Argentina is one of the most advanced
countries in Latin America in terms of transport, with modern
facilities, accessible and adapted to the different needs
of its inhabitants. In Buenos Aires you will find several
alternatives to travel. The Public transportation is an
efficient service, and the vast majority are running the
24 hours.
Subways (Metro), buses (collectively, to Buenos Aires),
Trains, Taxis, Remises and ships.
SUBWAY OR METRO
The Subway (as it's called in BUENOS AIRES)
or Metro, is the faster, more frequent (every 5 minutes)
and safest in the city, also one of the most cheap. This
service is located through the whole city and you can travel
doing different combinations of subway lines.
The ticket is electro-magnetic and it's dispensed
in the same station.
Buenos Aires was the first Latin American city
with Subways transport ( Since 1913). That decade only 10
countries had underground network: England, France, Turkey,
Austria, Hungary, Germany, Greece, Germany, USA and Argentina.
The current network of BUENOS AIRES consists of 5 lines
A, B, C, D and E. The A Line (Alem to Caballito) is the
network that preserves ancient and historic trains.
The ticket costs $ 0.70 pesos. Open from 5:30
am to 11:00 pm.
URBAN BUS
The urban bus transport or commonly known as
"Colectivos" has a network of more than 150 buses
lines and more than 15,000 buses flowing through buenos
aires streets. A vast majority of buses are customized to
receive handicapped passengers, called Units Under Floor
( Piso bajo ) , and it has ramps for passengers in wheelchairs.
From 10 years ago has an automatic system to expend tickets
inside bus.Introducing coins into the machine, you get a
ticket to travel. The bus system is a service with "stops"
( A place where passengers are waiting to take a bus ) spread
on the streets with a distance 400 meters among each one
of them.
RAILWAY
The
train is the fastest and most widely used to enter to the
city. From the Retiro Train Station you can travel to the
B.A. north zone, from Constitution Station ,to the south
of Buenos Aires province, and from Lacroze Station to the
northwest zone.
In 1917 began circulating the first electric
train service, Retiro - Tigre. This service called TBA is
the shorter travel in time (45 minutes to Tigre City ) and
its wagons has air-conditioning . The most expensive ticket
costs 0.95 $ pesos.
Another train is "Tren de la Costa"
.It has a tourist profile that reaches the Delta del Tigre
(The Great BUENOS AIRES , the noth zone ), traveling across
the coastline of Rio de la Plata. It has much demand for
tours to Delta or Tigre . We recommend to travel with this
service to Tigre, because is the opportunity to know the
beautiful north zone. Each station has different attractives,
and San Isidro is the great alternative to shop foods ,
drink a cafe, or handycraft.
